We regularly take backups of each site (at least weekly, plus immediately before your site is upgraded), and keep them for 30 days. If you need access to a previous version of your site just contact support and we will send you the backup or restore it to your site for you.

The backup file contains only your site’s files and the data you have changed, not the code for the application. For example, if your site is using WordPress, you will find in the backup file all of your site’s files and plugin code, but not any of WordPress’s code, since that can be downloaded from WordPress.org.

Also in the backup is a sql.gz file containing a SQL dump of your site’s database. This file was generated using mysqldump with the --hex-blob option. This file does not contain any piwik_archive_ tables; these are not backed up as they will be automatically recreated by Piwik using data from the other tables.

Together, the site files plus the database dump contain all of the information from your site. See migrating from Bitmash for information on how to transfer this data to another hosting provider.
